Collaborating with the National Centre for the Performing Arts to Elevate the Stagecraft of Die Fledermaus and War and Peace

We are honored to have participated in the production of Die Fledermaus and War and Peace at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). These two productions, while vastly different in style, both demand an exceptionally high level of stagecraft and technical precision. To ensure seamless execution, we deployed over 20 hoists to support the intricate stage designs and prop movements, creating a fluid and immersive experience for the audience.
Innovative Stage Machinery for an Immersive Performance
Both productions presented unique challenges—Die Fledermaus, with its lively and opulent setting, required meticulous scene transitions, while War and Peace featured large-scale battle sequences and complex staging demands. To accommodate these requirements, we not only employed over 20 hoists for precise stage lifting and set adjustments but also integrated 8 trolleys to enhance stage transitions and dynamic scene changes, ensuring smooth and visually stunning effects.
The use of hoists significantly increased the flexibility of stage design while ensuring the safety of performers during highly dynamic sequences. In War and Peace, large battlefield scenes demanded rapid transformations, which were seamlessly executed through our advanced hoisting system. Meanwhile, in Die Fledermaus, the hoists played a crucial role in adjusting stage heights and creating layered visual effects, complementing the exquisite lighting design to enhance dramatic tension.
Seamless Coordination for a Flawless Stage Production
Successful stage performances rely on impeccable teamwork, and this project was no exception. We worked closely with directors, stage designers, lighting engineers, and sound technicians to ensure that all mechanical systems integrated perfectly with the artistic vision of the productions. Every prop movement and scene change was meticulously calculated and rigorously rehearsed to achieve the highest standard of execution.
As one of the most prestigious performing arts venues in China, the NCPA maintains rigorous standards for stage design and performance quality. This collaboration was not only a testament to our technical expertise but also a valuable opportunity to further the integration of cutting-edge stage technology with artistic expression.
